Priority Migration Skilled Occupation List (PMSOL)

Australia requires skilled workers. To address Australia’s economic recovery from COVID 19 the Australian government has recently created a Priority Skilled Migration List.

Recently an additional 22 occupations were added to the Priority Migration Skilled Occupation List, referred to as the Priority Occupational Skills List.

So why is this important?

Skilled migration in Australia, employer-sponsored nomination and visa applications with an occupation on the Priority List will be given priority processing.

All other skilled occupation lists will remain active, but occupations on the Priority List will be given priority processing.

Priority processing of Employer-sponsored nomination and visa applications for certain critical skills currently needed applies only to the following employer-sponsored visa subclasses:

  • The Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) visa (subclass 482)
  • The Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 494)
  • The Employer Nomination Scheme (ENS) visa (subclass 186)
  • And the Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme (RSMS) visa (subclass 187)

While Australia’s border restrictions remain in place, temporary visa holders must obtain a travel exemption before travelling to Australia. If your skill is on the Priority List and you are applying for a temporary work-sponsored visa, it is
beneficial to obtain a travel exemption to enter Australia.

Which Critical Skills on the Priority List will get priority processing for Employer
sponsored Visa?

The Priority List identifies 44 occupations that fill critical skills needed to support Australia’s economic recovery from COVID-19.
